Cultivar: Zhengcong Tie Guan Yin (traditional Tie Guan Yin)
Harvested by hand: Spring 2016
Origin: Nan Yan, Anxi, Fujian Province, China.
Process: light to medium oxidation, rolled, scented with real osmanthus flowers, lightly roasted. No artificial scents.
1. View
The dry leaves are light green, but not fresh and vivid green. The brew is dark yellow with a good clarity. The leaves open up and look shriveled and uneven, because that's how real Tie Guan Yin leaves look like.
2. Scents
It's difficult to tell where the osmanthus scent ends and where the tea scent starts. The osmanthus scent is neither overpowering nor weak. It's just in great harmony with the tea.
3. Taste
The powerful taste and aftertaste of Tie Guan Yin creates a wonderful mouthfeel for this tea. The long aging also contributed to harmonizing and sweetening the taste of this tea.
Conclusion: This scented Osmanthus Tie Guan Yin is as good as it gets! It shows how well flowers and Oolong can go together.
