Cultivar: Qingxin Ganzhong

Harvested by hand in spring 1980

Origin: San Hsia, Taiwan

Process: dried, white tea

Testing parameters: 2.5 grams, 6 minutes brew, boiling water.

1. View

Lots of white buds among the dry leaves. They show some inconsistency in size, color and appearance, because the leaves grow a little bit unevenly in this organic garden. The brew has a very clear and light yellow/green hue.

2. The scents

Extreme freshness and lightness in this very early batch: one month before Qingmin festival! Taiwan's spring is early and the earlier in the season, the lighter and finer are the fragrances. (On March 22nd, the temperature reached 32 degrees Celcius!)

3. The taste

The taste is very light and sweet. What makes this green tea exceptional is how sweet it remains even after several minutes of brewing.

Conclusion: This farmer has done a good job transitioning to an organic tea garden. He has added new tea trees, but he will have to wait for 3 days until he can harvest those. The quality of this rare Taiwan green tea comes from the organic purity of the leaves and the very early harvest time. It's a green tea I highly recommend!
